We present a new two-step process for defining optimal composite fiber paths use in automated placement machines and finite element analysis models. Building upon work done previously the area of discrete geodesic path generation, we method predicting minimum strain energy initialized by fast approximate on triangular meshes. compare effectiveness this with those already discussed literature show how is fast, accurate, ready to commercial applications. This study also shows effectively finds complex, non-developable surfaces, which will improve models provide manufacturers ability create components complex geometry. have implemented our proposed GPU, speeds up large surface mesh sizes computing parallel. The algorithms developed are available freely online been successfully integrated into an finite-element model-building software called De-La-Mo (https://idealab-isu.github.io/autofiber/).
